En Primeur Wines – delivery in early 2027
Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Crozes-Hermitage "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 Tardieu Laurent
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a deep red hue, oscillating between ruby and garnet nuances.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet expresses the full typicity of the northern Rhône, with delicate floral notes of violet harmoniously intertwined with intense aromas of black fruits, liqueur-like blackcurrant and liquorice.
Palate
The palate reveals a lovely density supported by fine, round and perfectly integrated tannins. There is a remarkable balance between richness and a pleasant natural vivacity, extending into a long, persistent finish.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, such as lamb or a fine marbled rib steak. It also enhances characterful game dishes, herb-roasted poultry, as well as aged blue-veined or washed-rind cheeses.
Service and storage
With excellent potential, this Crozes-Hermitage "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 deserves to rest in the cellar to allow its tannic structure to soften. It can be enjoyed optimally after two to three years of patience and will continue to evolve favourably, drinking well until around 2036.
The authentic expression of Syrah by an exceptional micro-négoce from the Rhône Valley
The estate
Founded on January 10, 1996 by Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent, the House of Tardieu Laurent is a prestigious micro-négoce based in Lourmarin, Provence. Specializing in the great wines of the Rhône Valley, it stands out for its tailored approach and unwavering pursuit of excellence. Today, the estate is fully owned and run by the Tardieu family, with Michel, his wife Michèle, and their children Bastien and Camille. Their philosophy is built on trusted relationships with winegrowers and a respectful showcasing of terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes behind this wine come from the leading terroirs of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, more specifically from the renowned communes of Gervans, Habrard and Tenay. The vines, averaging over 50 years of age, thrive on predominantly granitic soils, giving the berries exceptional concentration and a characteristic minerality.
The vintage
The year 2024 stood out for its complex and paradoxical weather conditions in the northern Rhône region. These unusual climatic conditions demanded constant attention in the vineyards and an extremely rigorous selection at harvest time, retaining only fruit that had reached optimal quality.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Crozes-Hermitage "Vieilles Vignes" 2024 follows a minimal-intervention approach aimed at preserving the purity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in barrels, followed by an eight-month aging period in new barrels and a one-wine barrel, crafted from noble French forests including Allier, Tronçais and Jupille oak. True to the house's convictions, the wine is bottled without fining and with minimal, if any, filtration.
