An exceptional blend from Ribera del Duero by Vega Sicilia
The estate
Founded in 1864 by Eloy Lecanda, Vega Sicilia established itself as early as 1915 as an essential benchmark for Spanish wines thanks to its legendary cuvées Unico and Valbuena. Based in Castile and León, the estate owns vineyards in the heart of Ribera del Duero. It has belonged since 1982 to the Álvarez family, led by Pablo Alvarez. A pioneer in applying Bordeaux methods in Spain, Vega Sicilia has for more than a century upheld an unmatched worldwide reputation thanks to its extended aging and its approach inspired by the great Médoc grands crus.
The vineyard
The Vega Sicilia vineyard stretches in the heart of Ribera del Duero. This outstanding wine region of Castile and León offers the vines distinctive climatic and geological conditions that allow the optimal expression of Tinto Fino and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The blend
Unico Reserva Especial Venta 2026 is the result of a blend of the 2011, 2012 and 2014 vintages. This cuvée was bottled in May 2022, resulting in a limited production.
Vinification and aging
Unico Reserva Especial Venta 2026 benefits from exceptional aging of 6 years in wood, combining French and American oak casks, new and used 225-liter barrels, as well as 20,000-liter casks.
