Tasting characteristics and advice for Villa Antinori 2022
Tasting
Appearance
A beautiful, intense ruby color with violet highlights, this wine displays a deep, luminous hue typical of great Tuscan blends.
Nose
The nose opens with a generous bouquet of ripe red fruits – cherry, plum, and wild strawberry – enhanced by delicate spicy notes and a hint of Mediterranean scrub. Subtle woody aromas and a light floral nuance complete this elegant aromatic profile.
Palate
The attack is straightforward and fruity, carried by silky, well-integrated tannins. The balance between freshness and generosity expresses itself with finesse, leading to a persistent finish with spicy and lightly toasted notes.
Wine pairings
This wine will pair beautifully with pasta served with rich sauces, grilled or braised red meats, roasts, and game. It will also complement aged cheeses and fine Italian charcuterie.
Serving and cellaring
Serve between 60 and 64 °F. This wine can be enjoyed now in its youthful fruitiness or cellared until around 2030 to develop greater complexity and depth.
The excellence of a renowned Italian estate dating back to 1385
The estate
The Antinori family is among the oldest and most respected winemaking dynasties in Italy. Since 1385, twenty-six generations have succeeded one another at the head of this Florentine House, driven by a constant ambition to combine tradition and innovation in the pursuit of quality. Pioneers in the creation of Super Tuscans in the 1970s, Antinori - Villa Antinori helped revolutionize the Italian wine landscape while remaining deeply attached to the identity of their terroir. Today, the House is led by Piero Antinori and his three daughters, who continue the family legacy with great talent.
The vineyard
This Villa Antinori comes from selected vineyards across Tuscany, some of which are located in the Chianti Classico, the historic cradle of the family. These terroirs benefit from a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool nights that promote aromatic concentration and the finesse of the tannins. The diversity of soils – clay-limestone and schist – contributes to the complexity and balance that characterize this wine.
Grape varieties
This Villa Antinori 2022 is made from a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and syrah. Sangiovese, the emblematic grape variety of Tuscany, brings structure, freshness, and fruity character, while the international varieties enrich the wine with roundness, depth, and aromatic complexity.
Vinification and aging
The grapes, harvested at perfect ripeness, are vinified separately by grape variety in order to preserve the specific characteristics of each. After careful fermentation, the wine is aged in oak – a combination of French barrels and large casks – which imparts harmony and complexity before the final blending and bottling.

Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
