Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 10-Year-Old Single Cask #10416 Sherry Oloroso Itineraires Collection 2014 Chichibu
Tasting
Nose
Straight and precise, the nose releases fragrances of bitter orange, walnut, roasted notes, candied apricot and precious woods (sandalwood), followed by vinous, oxidative nuances marked by the influence of Oloroso sherry.
Palate
On the palate, the powdery texture (rice, cocoa) transitions into tertiary registers (coffee, Papier d’Arménie), honeyed notes (heather, linden) and empyreumatic accents (incense, beeswax polish, apricot kernel). The finish is persistent and aromatic (currants, dried fig, licorice and beeswax), underscoring deep maturity.
An exceptional Japanese single malt aged in Oloroso sherry cask
Chichibu, the excellence of artisanal Japanese whisky
Founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama Prefecture, Chichibu embodies the excellence of artisanal Japanese whisky. The distillery stands out for its small stills, fermentations in Japanese mizunara oak vats, and demanding maturation work, including the use of mizunara casks. Chichibu also explores Japanese barley through dedicated series, while perpetuating precise expertise that combines Japanese tradition and innovation. This house illustrates the qualitative revival of contemporary Japanese whisky.
An exceptional single cask from the Itineraires collection
The 10-Year-Old Single Cask #10416 Sherry Oloroso Itineraires Collection 2014 from Chichibu benefited from 10 years of maturation in a single Oloroso sherry cask. Bottled cask strength at 62.3% and without chill filtration or coloring, this Japanese whisky offers a pure, concentrated expression of its aging. The confidential outturn of 246 bottles underscores the exclusive character of this single cask. Combining the depth of Oloroso sherry with Chichibu’s precision, this edition showcases the textural richness, aromatic intensity, and length on the palate characteristic of the distillery, within the Itineraires collection.
