The Elegance and Structure of a Douro Porto Tawny
Taylor's, an emblematic Porto house since 1692
Founded in 1692, Taylor's remains an emblematic family house in the Douro, a Portuguese region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Owner of three Grade A quintas (Vargellas, Terra Feita, Junco) in the Duriense Valley, Taylor's perpetuates an ancestral know-how under family management. Its Portos age in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, benefiting from the Atlantic coastal climate. The house stands out for its traditional approach to aging in oak barrels and its rigorous selection of terroirs. Taylor's embodies the excellence of Porto with internationally acclaimed cuvées, notably its aged Tawnys that reveal the quintessence of the Duriense.
20 Year Old Tawny, the excellence of extended aging
The 20 Year Old Tawny Taylor's is born from the selection of red Portos from the eastern Douro Valley, aged in oak barrels in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The cool, humid coastal climate encourages gentle aging, developing mellower aromas than the 10 Year Old, with remarkable spicy and hazelnut intensity. Produced in limited quantities, this blend of old Tawnys reveals more mellow characteristics than its younger siblings, reflecting the patience and expertise of the house Taylor's in the art of extended aging.
