    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for VIK 2022

    Tasting

    Nose
Rich and complex, the nose reveals aromas of wild blackberry and ripe red fruits, accompanied by notes of licorice and graphite. Nuances of sweet spices and blackcurrant round out this generous bouquet.

    Palate
On the palate, this wine charms with its silky texture and remarkable structure. Fine tannins are perfectly balanced by lively acidity, delivering a full mid-palate and a persistent finish of great elegance.

    Food and wine pairings

This wine pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, herb-crusted lamb with Herbes de Provence, or a platter of aged cheeses. It also complements slow-cooked dishes in sauce very well.

    Serving and cellaring

VIK 2022 is best enjoyed at a temperature of 60–64°F (16–18°C). One hour of decanting allows its complex aromas to fully unfold. Drink through approximately 2035.

An exceptional Chilean wine combining power and elegance

    The estate

Created in 2004 by Norwegian entrepreneur Alexander Vik and his wife Carrie, the VIK estate spans 4,300 hectares in Millahue in the Cachapoal Valley, Central Valley, with 270 hectares under vine. Managed by Patrick Valette and Gonzague de Lambert, with Cristián Vallejo as the winemaker, VIK stands out for its avant-garde architecture and holistic approach aimed at producing the finest wine in South America.

    The vineyard

Located in the Millahue Valley, this Central Valley vineyard benefits from a temperate Mediterranean climate with a marine influence that moderates maximum temperatures. The “Las Casas” plots (Cabernet Franc) feature lacustrine clay-loam soils that provide optimal water balance and remarkable aromatic complexity, while the “Los Lazos” plots (Cabernet Sauvignon) lie on colluvial sandy-clay soils with 50% sand, ensuring natural drainage and concentrated, elegant tannins.

    The vintage

The year 2022 was marked by one of the coldest spring–summer cycles observed in the past two decades. These exceptional climatic conditions yielded rare elegance, with vibrant, precise tannins, a remarkable mineral structure, and unparalleled tension, purity, and freshness.

    Winemaking and aging

VIK 2022 was aged for 26 months in exclusive “Barroir” barrels, crafted and toasted with estate oak, allowing for perfect integration between fruit and wood.

    Grape varieties

79% Cabernet Franc and 21% Cabernet Sauvignon.
