Description
A white Santenay from the Côte de Beaune, combining elegance and balance
The estate
Founded in 1831 in Monthélie by Bernard Bichot, the Maison Albert Bichot settled in Beaune, the historic capital of Burgundy wines, where it has since established its headquarters. Since 1996, Albéric Bichot, representing the sixth generation of the family, has led this independent house, which draws on six estates spread across the great sub-regions of Burgundy, farmed organically or using sustainable methods. This mastery of the upstream process, combined with a winemaking approach that respects terroir, shapes the identity of its cuvées, including this Santenay Village.
The vineyard
Santenay lies at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy, a geographical position that gives its wines a distinct identity among the village appellations of this part of the Burgundy vineyard. The grapes for this cuvée reflect the house's territorial approach, which organises the vinification of its Côte de Beaune wines close to this area, in order to best preserve the characteristics of the Santenay terroir.
Vinification and ageing
True to its philosophy of measured intervention, Maison Albert Bichot produces the Santenay Village 2022 using a minimally interventionist vinification, designed to faithfully reveal the expression of the terroir. The wines are moved by gravity before being aged in oak barrels, with the dosage finely adjusted, a method that preserves the purity of the fruit while adding a discreet structure.
Grape variety
This Santenay Village 2022 from Albert Bichot is made from Chardonnay.
