The magnificent 2016 vintage will be remembered as a year with an exceptional harvest. The climatic conditions throughout the year allowed the fruit to reach a perfect stage of maturity. This 2016 vintage reveals a superb expression of the Tenuta Tignanello terroir, in the region of Tuscany, in central Italy. Produced in the Toscana IGT appellation, the Solaia 2016 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese.

At the tasting, the Solaia 2016 by Tenuta Tignanello Marchesi Antinori displays an intense ruby red colour. The aromatic bouquet is immediately distinguished by its richness, intensity and complexity. Notes of ripe black fruits, evoking blackberry and bilberry, are followed by balsamic touches, suggesting slight hints of menthol. Gourmet notes of chocolate and candy appear as well, giving way to spicy and peppery touches, leaving a sensation of great freshness on the nose. The wine quickly coats the palate with its full, enveloping texture and soft, silky tannins. The palate is very elegant, highlighting a unique, vibrant expression by the fruit as it unfolds on the incredibly long and lingering finish. A prodigious vintage from Solaia that will evolve beautifully through the decades to come.
