    Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Years in Cask 22 Years Old Grande Champagne 1999 by Bache-Gabrielsen

    Tasting

    Appearance
A natural colour with a beautiful amber hue and orange highlights, the result of 22 years of cask ageing.

    Nose
A complex and intensely spicy aromatic profile. It reveals pronounced notes of clove, cigar box and gingerbread, enriched by indulgent hints of Brazilian coffee and dark chocolate.

    Palate
Round and remarkably long, the palate confirms the exotic character of the nose. It offers a lovely harmony of dark chocolate, Brazilian coffee and gingerbread, underpinned by the finesse typical of the Grande Champagne terroir.

    Pairings and tasting occasions
To fully appreciate this highly contemplative spirit, warm the glass in the palm of your hand to bring it to the ideal tasting temperature. This Cognac is best enjoyed neat at the end of a meal. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate or gingerbread desserts, or with a medium-bodied cigar that echoes its empyreumatic notes.

    Mixology
As this is an exceptional spirit released in a very limited edition, we recommend enjoying it neat and unadorned, to preserve the full complexity of its aromas and long ageing.

A vintage Cognac of rare elegance from Grande Champagne

    The House
Founded in 1905 by the young Norwegian Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, the Bache-Gabrielsen House tells a unique story in which Scandinavian roots meet Charente tradition. Based in the heart of the production area, this family-owned trading house relies on a strong network of grower-distillers to select its eaux-de-vie. Renowned for its values of authenticity, boldness and savoir-faire, it stands out for the exceptional depth of its stocks and its spirit of innovation. Today, the House is run by Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, representing the fourth generation. Under his leadership, the brand continues to champion Cognac through transparent, expert creations, while maintaining its position as the undisputed leader in the Norwegian market.

    Production
The Years in Cask 22 Years Old Grande Champagne 1999 is a rare expression from one of the smallest harvests of the 20th century, marked by challenging weather conditions. This Cognac comes exclusively from the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir, classified as Premier Cru, and is made from 100% Ugni Blanc.

Distilled in 1999, it underwent an extended 22-year ageing period in Limousin oak casks. This meticulous maturation was overseen by master distiller Richard Mazières, allowing the spirit to develop exceptional aromatic complexity. Bottled in 2022, this vintage is presented in its purest form: natural colour and no chill filtration, guaranteeing the complete integrity of the spirit. To highlight its exclusive character, this 70cl bottle is available with elegant packaging options, including a "Tradition" gift box or a white case, making this cuvée a true collector's piece for discerning connoisseurs.
