Characteristics and tasting advice for Derthona Timorasso 2023 by Borgogno

    Tasting

    Appearance
With an intense yellow color, this wine reveals itself as clear and brilliant.

    Nose
The bouquet is particularly expressive and complex. It unveils seductive aromas of ripe peach and pear, delicately interwoven with floral notes of acacia. The whole is enhanced by a touch of honey and a subtle petrol nuance typical of its profile.

    Palate
From the attack, the texture is ample and rich, offering a beautifully smooth tactile sensation. The body, perfectly harmonious, is supported by remarkable balance that carries the wine through to a very long-lasting finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This characterful white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as scallops, but also enhances finely prepared raw meats, especially when accompanied by truffle. It is equally well suited to vegetarian dishes such as broths or breaded vegetables, as well as blue-veined cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the complexity of Derthona Timorasso 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12 °C. With excellent ageing potential, this vintage can be enjoyed until around 2033.

The authentic expression of a white wine from Piedmont by Borgogno

    The estate

Founded in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno, this historic estate is a true reference in Piedmont. Now managed by the Farinetti family, who took over in 2008, the property perpetuates ancestral expertise with the utmost respect for local traditions. With a vineyard covering 16 hectares, Borgogno produces wines renowned for their complexity and remarkable ageing potential. The commitment of the current team enhances this unique terroir while preserving the classic identity that has built the House’s reputation.

    The vineyard

Located within the Colli Tortonesi appellation, the vines benefit from an exceptional terroir mainly composed of marl-limestone soils. Reaching an altitude of around 250 meters, this vineyard in Piedmont offers ideal geological and geographical conditions for growing native grape varieties, promoting the development of great aromatic intensity.

    The vintage

The year 2023 proved particularly demanding from a climatic standpoint. These unique weather conditions notably led to a growing cycle resulting in earlier harvests, allowing grapes to be picked in optimal health and balance.

    Winemaking and ageing

The production of Derthona Timorasso 2023 begins with cold maceration, followed by spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats. The wine then undergoes careful ageing for 10 months in stainless steel tanks, a method chosen to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit.

    Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from 100% Timorasso, a native white grape variety of the region, once threatened with extinction and now enjoying a remarkable revival.
