The property

Nestled in the heart of Provence, near Saint-Tropez, the Caves d’Esclans embody exceptional know-how in the production of high-end rosés. Combining technological innovation and respect for the terroir with brilliance, the property thus asserts its place among the essential references of the Provencal vineyard. The Caves D'Esclans is a wine merchant-breeder activity created by the Bordeaux Sacha Lichine in 2006, also owner in the Var of the famous Château d'Esclans.

The wine

Imagined in 2006 by Sacha Lichine with the aim of initiating "the renaissance of rosé", the Whispering Angel cuvée is now established as an essential reference of Provence rosés. Whispering Angel 2024 stands out as one of the most accomplished vintages to date. Every detail of its vinification has been carefully mastered to achieve perfect harmony.

The vineyard

On the French Riviera, a few cables from the ancient Roman city of Fréjus, the valley of Esclans is outlined, sheltering the 44-hectare vineyard of the eponymous château. Averaging 35 years old, the vines are planted on vineyards composed, depending on the plots, of clays, limestones or even sandy gravels. This mosaic of terroirs then ensures a great diversity of characters to these great wines from Côtes de Provence.
Keen to obtain the best possible quality of grapes and wines, a privileged relationship is maintained with local grape producers, committed alongside Caves d’Esclans, and whose vineyards are maintained with the same quality requirements as those of the Château d’Esclans vineyards.

Vinification and aging

After a precise selection, the grapes are hand-picked at night and then transported to the cellars. Then, the grapes are sorted by electronic optics, the destemming and crushing are practiced with lightness and delicacy at 7-8°C to avoid oxidation. The blend is then made with the best free-run and press juices. Finally, fermentation and aging continue in stainless steel tanks whose temperatures are individually controlled to guarantee the quality of Whispering Angel.
