Characteristics and Tasting Notes for Bricco Asili 2023 by Ceretto
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a brilliant ruby hue, taking on subtle garnet reflections as the years go by.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is deep and lively. It exudes scents of crisp red berries, blood orange and wild rose, harmoniously blended with floral notes reminiscent of rose and violet. Over time, hints of sweet spice and undergrowth come to enrich this complex nose.
Palate
On the palate, this wine combines aromatic lightness with a monumental structure. The palate shows restraint and precision, supported by pronounced tannins and lovely acidity. The whole unfolds into a remarkably persistent finish, a true signature of this great cru.
Food and Wine Pairing
This great red wine pairs beautifully with structured, refined dishes. It will enhance roasted or braised meats, game, as well as Piedmontese specialities such as tajarin with ragù or brasato. It is also an ideal match for dishes featuring white Alba truffle and matured pressed-curd cheeses.
Serving and Ageing
To fully enjoy the Bricco Asili 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C in wide-bowled Burgundy-style glasses. Prior aeration, whether through decanting or opening the bottle ahead of time, is advisable while the wine is young. With excellent ageing potential, this vintage can be cellared for a decade or even longer.
The Elegance of a Great Barbaresco Cru by Ceretto
The Estate
Officially founded in 1937 by Riccardo Ceretto, this illustrious name embodies the excellence of Piedmont. The estate's history took a decisive turn in the 1960s thanks to Bruno and Marcello, pioneers in showcasing the region's local crus. Today, the third generation, represented by current owners Lisa, Roberta, Alessandro and Federico Ceretto, runs the estate. Renowned for its international reputation and its identity deeply rooted in the land, the house stands out for its environmental commitment, with a vineyard that is entirely certified organic and farmed biodynamically, blending tradition, artistry and respect for nature.
The Vineyard
This cuvée comes from the additional geographical designation (MGA) Asili, a historic terroir located in the commune of Barbaresco. This vineyard, covering around 1.15 hectares, enjoys a privileged position at the top of the hill, offering multiple exposures. The vines are cultivated with great care, in accordance with organic and biodynamic principles, on soils conducive to a slow, balanced ripening of the grapes.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes intended for the Bricco Asili 2023 undergo dedicated parcel-by-parcel vinification within the estate's historic cellar. To allow the terroir to express itself fully, fermentation is initiated using a starter culture of indigenous yeasts. Ageing then takes place in carefully selected wooden vessels, refining the tannic structure and developing the complexity of this Italian wine without ever masking its original identity.
