The NV Brut Réserve assembles 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay from about 20 crus from different areas and contains at least 20% of reserve wines. It is light to medium-bodied, fruity, round and elegant, shows good freshness and finesse and drinks pretty easy. This bottle was disgorged in June 2017 (dosage: eight grams per liter) and tasted in October 2017.

    Alison Napjus

A finely knit Champagne, this layers vibrant acidity and a lacy mousse with delicate flavors of patisserie apple and pear, biscuit and ground ginger. Shows a subtle smoky note on the lasting finish. Drink now through 2021. 35,000 cases made, 6,100 cases imported.

    Decanter

Verbena, spring flowers and hints of acacia on the nose. Delicious creamy mellowness on a finely wrought palate with woodsmoke, lavender and a deftly integrated finish.

    James Suckling

A very fresh, approachable and fleshy cuvée with a super fresh, lime and lemon palate. Bright, fresh and easy. Contains a minimum of 40 per cent reserve wine, based around the 2014 harvest. Drink now.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Delicate golden yellow with green reflections. Nougat and ripe citrus fruit on the nose, with some light tropical fruit nuances too. It's harmonious and balanced on the nose and on the palate too, which has a medium bodied and very juicy profile, with apple to the fore and a very fine mousse. Finishes long, with a salty edge.

    La RVF

A fairly straightforward profile built around white fruit and pear, with a slight reductive edge. The nose is clean and direct but lacks complexity and reserve wine. On the palate, the effervescence is rather moderate. It’s missing a bit of structure and finesse.

A Côte des Blancs champagne combining elegance and character

    The estate

Founded in 1859 in Vertus by Armand Edouard Leroy and Jules Duval, the Duval-Leroy House stands as a historic benchmark of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne. An independent family business for six generations, it farms 200 hectares of vineyards predominantly planted with chardonnay, a significant share of which is classified as grands crus and premiers crus. Led by Carol Duval-Leroy since 1991, alongside her three sons Louis, Julien and Charles, the House continues an eco-responsible and innovative approach.

    The vineyard

The grapes come from parcels located on the Côte des Blancs in Champagne, a terroir renowned for the quality of its wines. The House practices precise winemaking with separation by origin, allowing the typicity of each parcel to be expressed at its best.

    Winemaking and aging

This Brut Réserve benefits from meticulous vinification with malolactic fermentation carried out using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeasts. Clarification is done naturally, without the use of fining agents of animal or plant origin. This Brut champagne then rests on lees for 30 to 36 months, allowing its structure and aromas to develop. Its dosage is 8 g/L, and it is produced with a minimum of 40% reserve wine.
