100% Chardonnay from a single site. Eight years’ ageing on lees before disgorgement. No dosage. No malo. Both perfumed and yeasty. Unusual nose with a hint of chamomile and straw. Highly assertive, with a driving force of acidity. More power than elegance, although the zesty citrus finish lifts it at the end. (JH)

    Description

    2004 Champagne

Dizy Corne Bautray is produced from 1 hectare (2.5 acres) Chardonnay parcel, planted in 1960. The south-facing vineyard lies on very rich, clay-limestone soil in Dizy. The 2004 vintage shows a shiny straw colour with a fine bubble lace. The nose reveals lovely complexity with fragrances of iris, peach, or even toasted almonds and acacia honey. The crystalline palate offers lovely minerals and lively acidity that leads to salty notes on the finish. Jacquesson Champagne House is renowned for their meticulous and demanding vinification. Jacquesson House’s four lieux-dits -Corne Bautray and Terre Rouge in Dizy, Champ Caïn in Avize, and Vauzelle Terme in Ay- are only produced during exceptional vintage years.
