The wine displays a deep red hue, characteristic of Burgundy’s greatest wines.

    Nose

The nose reveals a complex, flavorful bouquet, typical of classic red Corton wines.

On the palate, this wine shows a dense structure with pronounced tannins, a hallmark of the appellation. The overall profile is savory and balanced, reflecting the maturity of the 2009 vintage.

    Food and wine pairings

This Corton Grand Cru 2009 pairs perfectly with game such as duck, goose, and game birds. It also matches well with traditional Burgundian dishes and aged cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring potential

The Corton Grand Cru 2009 can be cellared until around 2029-2049, benefiting from the appellation’s outstanding aging potential.

A precise, flavorful Burgundy grand cru

    The estate

Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper in Beaune, Champy is Burgundy’s oldest wine merchant house. A pioneer in wine pasteurization thanks to its collaboration with Louis Pasteur in the 19th century, it now farms 21 to 29 hectares of vines in the Côte de Beaune, certified organic since 2010. Its historic 15th-century buildings are listed as historic monuments. Since October 2016, the house has belonged to the French group AdVini, with Dimitri Bazas overseeing technical management and winemaking since 1999.

    The vineyard

Corton is a grand cru located on the Corton hill, benefiting from clay-limestone soils rich in marl. These outstanding terroirs give the wines a dense structure and great aromatic complexity, prized hallmarks of red Corton wines.

    The vintage

The 2009 vintage benefited from favorable conditions in Burgundy, allowing optimal ripening of the grapes. These climatic conditions produced well-balanced, ripe wines that fully express the potential of the terroir.

    Winemaking and aging

The Corton Grand Cru 2009 was vinified according to the classic Burgundian methods practiced at Maison Champy: pump-overs, punch-downs, cold pre-fermentation maceration, and the use of native yeasts. This traditional approach helps preserve the authentic expression of the terroir.
