    Description

Tasting characteristics and advice for Champy’s Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014

    Food and wine pairings

This powerful, rounded grand cru pairs perfectly with fine red meats such as beef fillet in pastry, roasted feathered game, or aged soft-ripened cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. Decanting for one hour will allow the wine to reveal its full aromatic complexity.

A Gevrey-Chambertin grand cru combining power and roundness

    The estate

Founded in 1720 by Edme Champy, a cooper by trade, Champy is the oldest Burgundy wine merchant house. Based in Beaune, it farms 21 hectares of vines between Volnay and the Corton hill. Owned by the Advini group and led by Dimitri Bazas, Champy stands out as a pioneer of organic viticulture in Burgundy, certified since 2007 with 12 hectares organic or in conversion.

    The vineyard

Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru covers 8.79 hectares within Gevrey-Chambertin, a commune that includes nine grand crus totaling 85.50 hectares. Located on the Côte de Nuits in Côte d'Or, this sloping vineyard benefits from an altitude between 240 and 280 meters. Limestone soils enriched with a fine proportion of clay marl give the wine its powerful structure and distinctive roundness.
