    Vinum

Dark-fruited, smoky, cool, cassis, blackberries; dense palate, fairly compact, crisp fruit, well-judged tannins, good length, finishes slightly drying. Perhaps a little short on charm.

    Zekun Shuai

Good depth and complexity, showing ripe but fresh blackberries, dark olives, graphite and violets. Extracted and a bit chewy on the palate with medium to full body and a pretty long but tannin-drenched finish. A bit less could be more. Wait until 2028.

    Wine Enthusiast

    Roger Voss

This classed growth estate in the village of Cantenac has produced a wine rich in tannins and black fruit. With a dark berry aroma and black currant and spice flavors, the wine is rich, structured and ageworthy. Drink from 2028.

    Vinous

    Neal Martin

The 2022 Boyd-Cantenac has a very attractive nose: clean and pure black fruit, crushed stone and light graphite scents percolating through with time. Great definition. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Good depth, quite sapid in the mouth, though it cuts away swiftly on the finish. Otherwise, this is a perfectly decent Margaux that deserves two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

    Description

The freshness and balance of a Margaux red wine

    The estate

Owned by the Guillement family since 1932, Château Boyd-Cantenac is one of the best known crus in the Margaux appellation. This 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855 delights Margaux wine lovers with its singular style and mastered know-how. With great ageing potential, the wines of Château Boyd-Cantenac have the aromatic complexity typical of the Margaux appellation, while the palate is smooth and refined.

    The vineyard

Château Boyd-Cantenac 2022 is a Margaux wine made from a 17-hectare vineyard located in the heart of the appellation. The vines are 38 years old on average and are planted on siliceous gravel.

    Winemaking and ageing

Harvests took place from 15 September to 11 October. Maceration in stainless steel vats for 20 days. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels, 90% of which were new, for 17 to 18 months.

    Blend

Cabernet Sauvignon (64%), Merlot (20%), Petit Verdot (10%) and Cabernet Franc (6%).
