    Decanter

Dark ripe cherries, floral notes of violets, still a bit esthery on the nose. Ripe and juicy on the palate, with polished, slightly grippy tannins, good fruit sweetness of black plums and bramble, supported by fresh, citrusy acidity, quite elegant and poised, it has good tension and a long finish. 5% of Petit Verdot completes the blend.

Excellent tannic structure, and good juicy fruit that comes through the grilled cedar, enjoyable, plenty of potential for improving further over ageing, and this suggests that sister estate Pouget can similarly resolve over the next 12 months. Harvest September 13 to 25. 90% new oak for ageing.

    Yves Beck

What finesse and freshness in the bouquet of Boyd Cantenac 2025! It stands out for its bright fruit character and notes of red berries, before unveiling aromas of blackberries and mint. Smooth on the attack, it shows powerful, creamy tannins. In harmony with the wine’s acidity, they also bring a touch of freshness. A subtle austerity emerges on the finish, underpinning the aromatic expression as well as the lingering finale. The whole will knit together during ageing; the bonds are already there!

Deep, dark red with black highlights. An intense nose, fruity, pure and aromatic. Delicately mellow on the attack, with plenty of flavour and a velvety texture, the wine develops with savoury notes through a fine, long finish supported by oak. Blend: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. Alcohol: 13%. Yield: 20 hl/ha. Production: around 30,000 bottles. Ageing: 90% in new oak barrels for 12 to 15 months.

    Vinum

Finely fruity on the nose, with a hint of marzipan over cherry fruit and blackcurrant; delicate fruit on the attack, then the tannins make themselves felt, medium-bodied, with a fresh, again very fruity finish. A successful Boyd-Cantenac.

The refinement and richness of a Margaux wine

    The estate

In the Guillemet family since 1932, Château Boyd-Cantenac has established itself as one of the most consistent benchmarks of the Margaux appellation. Classified as a 3ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it appeals to lovers of Bordeaux wines through a singular style, the result of expertise passed down from generation to generation.

    The vineyard

The vineyard extends over 17 hectares planted in the heart of the Margaux appellation. The vines, with an average age of 38 years, are rooted in siliceous gravel soils, a terroir of choice for the expression of the great wines of the Left Bank.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes undergo a 20-day maceration in stainless steel tanks, allowing for a fine and precise extraction. The wine is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, including 50% new wood, providing structure and depth. Alcohol content: 13°C.

    Grape varieties

82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.
