    Description

The amplitude and freshness of a Margaux wine

    The property

This vineyard named "Hostein" in the 18th century was already at that time one of the most beautiful labels of the Médoc. At the head of the Château Brane-Cantenac since 1992, Henri Lurton perpetuates with passion the viticultural adventure begun by his ancestors, combining tradition with the modernity of infrastructures aimed at magnifying the identity of the wines from this exceptional terroir of the Margaux appellation.

    The vineyard

The Château de Brane-Cantenac is a Margaux wine from a vineyard whose location within the terroir of the Brane plateau contributes to the elegant and aromatic signature of the property's wines. The Grand Vin is made from plots of old vines located on the 4th terrace with the most clayey gravels, within a historic terroir of about 45 hectares.

    Vinification and aging

Vinification in wooden vats before aging for 18 months in barrels (70% of which are new).

    Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (70%), merlot (28%) and cabernet franc (2%).

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Château Brane-Cantenac 2008

    Tasting

    Nose
Subtle and refined, the nose blends fragrances of black fruits, licorice and eucalyptus, with a touch of new leather.

    Palate
The attack is elegant and full of freshness, offering a beautiful volume and a generous texture. The mid-palate seduces with its roundness and silky tannins, before a moderately long finish, marked by smoky nuances.

    Service and keeping

A decanting of 1h30 to 2h is recommended before serving at 18°C. This wine can wait in cellars until around 2033-2038.

    Food and wine pairings

A beef fillet with its reduced wine jus, accompanied by a potato millefeuille, is a delicate pairing suggestion with this red wine.
