    Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Cantemerle 2024

    Tasting

    Nose
The bouquet reveals itself to be floral and precise, with a beautiful aromatic freshness that announces a harmonious wine.

    Palate
The attack is juicy and fresh, followed by a floral and precise evolution. The structure is harmonious, supported by a subtle mineral framework. The tannins stand out for their silky and tender texture, leading to a long finish that leaves a pleasant impression of crunchy fruit.

    Food and wine pairings
This wine will pair perfectly with grilled red meats, duck breast or even slow-cooked dishes. Its balanced structure and silky tannins also make it an ideal companion for mature cheeses.

A Grand Cru Classé from Haut-Médoc marked by vivacity and elegance

    The property
Founded in the 12th century, Château Cantemerle is an emblematic wine estate of Bordeaux, located in Haut-Médoc, on the communes of Macau and Ludon. This Grand Cru Classé in 1855 has been, since 1980, the property of the SMA insurance group and under the direction of Laure Canu.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Cantemerle extends over 98 hectares in the Haut-Médoc. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are planted on quaternary gravel and siliceous soils, an ideal terroir for the expression of Bordeaux grape varieties. The vineyard management follows environmentally friendly practices as evidenced by the HVE certification.

    Vinification and aging
The grapes are hand-harvested with selective sorting in the vineyard, then completely destemmed and sorted again by hand. Fermentation takes place over 6 to 8 days at temperatures between 24 and 28°C, followed by a maceration of 20 to 25 days. Aging is carried out for 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new.

    Blend
73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
