Chateau Clos de Sarpe vineyard lies on homogeneous soils. The vines grow on a clay-limestone single-slope located on a steep hillside facing south-east. The 2009 vintage exhibits all the traits of Saint-Emilion superior wines: strong, fresh, and smooth. Chateau Clos de Sarpe 2009 requires several years to develop into a truly generous bottle.
The 2009 Clos de Sarpe is deep garnet colored with a drop-dead gorgeous nose of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and black plum preserves with hints of hoisin, espresso, exotic spices, licorice and fruitcake. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, it has a wonderfully elegant structure of exquisitely ripe, silky tannins and spectacular freshness, carrying the dense fruit to the long finish.
