The 2022 Le C du Sec du Château Closiot is another excellent white wine from Jean-Marie Guffens. Evoking an elegant, complex, and fresh bouquet of ripe pear, exotic fruits, nutmeg, vanilla pod, and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, round and enveloping, with a layered structure and a juicy core of fruit, finishing with a sweet note and a touch of volatile acidity. While it may not be as exuberant as the 2023 vintage, and certainly not as much as its owner and winemaker, it remains a great effort.

The estate

Château Closiot belongs to the emblematic producer couple from the Mâconnais, Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens. Driven by their passion for Sauternes wines, they acquired this Barsac estate in 2017. There, they produce sweet and dry wines of outstanding quality, widely praised by critics.

The vineyard

Located in Barsac, the Château Closiot vineyard benefits from morning mists and sunny harvests. These conditions favor the development of botrytis, which gives rise to wines that are both concentrated and light.
