    Decanter

Crisp fragrance on the nose, red berries and red flowers. Such a vivid pink colour to the wine in the glass. Bright tangy acidity with crisp tannins and a cool undercurrent of wet stones and graphite. Clean and focused, a classic element with freshness at the fore. Streamlined but with a soft grip and texture to the well-integrated tannins. A little serious but well made. You really feel the Cabernet here – mint, tobacco, crushed stones. Grippy, juicy but cool and tight too.

A melange of currants, flowers, licorice and spice box nuances fill the perfume. On the palate, the wine is vibrant, lively, juicy, soft, and fruity. There is a lot of energy here that propels the red berries on the palate through to the mint-accented finish. The wine blends 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and 11% Cabernet Franc. 13.4% ABV. Drink from 2029-2050. 92-94 Pts

If you liked the old school rustic character of Cos Labory, you're not going to find it here - instead this is lean, juicy, a little reserved, but great quality. Far more Cabernet Franc in this vintage, and no Petit Verdot (very different from last year where there was high Petit Verdot and almost no Cabernet Franc), and the result is sinewy tannins, blackberry and peony fruit, still underpinned by austere tannins and concentration that speaks to the soils. Enjoyable, if unexpected. Last year in organic conversion. 3.63 pH. 20% new oak, 3rd vintage under the Cos d'Estournel team. Tasted twice.

Nuances of ripe dark berries and mint mingle with toasted notes. Slender on the attack, the wine is slightly creamy. Its tannins bring vigor, while the acidic framework delivers character and a lively, tonic touch on the finish. A wine that needs to rein in its different components and find balance. It has pep and energy; now it needs to settle into place.

Deep black color. An intense, refined, fruity and pure nose, developing into joyful black-fruit notes rarely encountered before. Precise on the attack, very, very aromatic, with a fine creaminess running across the palate and plenty of flavor, the wine finishes powerful and deep, unfolding beautifully. Superb! Note that there is no Petit Verdot in this blend; this may explain the persistence of that fine creaminess throughout the finish. Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.4% - pH: 3.63 - IPT: 76. Yield: 29 hl/ha. Aging: 20% in new oak barrels. Harvest: from September 4 to 20.

    Vinum

Herbal-spicy and floral, with a subtle toasty note and dark berry fruit, lifted by a delicate hint of tobacco; a dense yet finely tuned palate, with oak perfectly integrated; finishes fresh, spicy and very elegant. The wine has clearly gained precision over the last few years. Definitely one to watch.

The elegance and purity of a Saint-Estèphe wine

    The estate

Located on the Cos hill in the Bordeaux region, Château Cos Labory is a prestigious Fifth Growth classified in 1855. Its history is closely tied to François Labory, its first documented owner until 1845. After a century under the stewardship of the Audoy family, the estate was acquired in 2023 by Michel Reybier. Today, the property maintains its independence while striving for excellence, producing sincere and precise wines that authentically express the full richness of their terroir.

    The vineyard

The 35-hectare vineyard stretches across the slopes of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, facing the famous Cos d'Estournel. The vines, averaging 38 years old and planted at a high density of 8,700 vines per hectare, benefit from a north and west exposure. This exceptional terroir consists of deep quaternary gravel resting on a clay-limestone bedrock. The proximity of the Gironde estuary and the ocean brings a moderating maritime influence and oceanic winds, fostering the optimal development of the growing cycle.
