    Decanter

Yummy, cool acidity starts the expression with lovely soft, creamy, powdery tannins. I really like the cool Cabernet aspect here with soft dried herbs and crunchy, wet stone aspects. Controlled and refined, perhaps missing a touch more vibrancy and bright fruit, but this is true to Pauillac in a ‘cool’ vintage style. Chewy, grippy, still a little oak impacted on the finish but this will settle.

Black currants, licorice, cedar, flowers, smoke, and tobacco scents crowd into the perfume. The palate delivers is creamy cassis profile, coupled with sweet, blackberries, and freshness paired with a creamy finish to wrap everything up quite nicely. This is an improving Pauillac to keep your eyes on. Drink from 2030-2050. 92-94 Pts

Soft grilled black fruits, very enjoyable, orange peel and crayon, needs a little further integration of acidity and tannins over ageing, but once again shows that this is becoming a consistently impressive pick in the appellation.

Graphite and black berry notes, complemented by a touch of liquorice. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine has powerful tannins that provide excellent support through the finish. They bring breadth and drive, matching a refreshing, structuring acidity. At this stage, the whole needs to knit together and open up. Ageing will take care of that. Kudos to the Croizet-Bages team.

    Vinum

Cassis, cola, blackberries and dried herbs on the nose; on the palate it is finely structured, fresh and light-footed; the tannins are ripe, the acidity is well balanced; the finish is red-fruited with medium length. Will be enjoyable early on.

A Grand Cru Classé from Pauillac of remarkable elegance

    The estate
Founded in the 17th century by the Croizet brothers in the hamlet of Bages, Château Croizet-Bages is an essential reference in the Bordeaux region. This Grand Cru Classé in 1855, located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation, was acquired by Paul Quié in 1942. Today, the estate is passionately run by Jean-Michel Quié and his children, Anne-Françoise and Jean-Philippe. Committed to a sustainable approach, the estate is aiming for the "Cultivons Demain" CSR certification by 2026, thereby perpetuating the excellence of its historic terroir.

    The vineyard
Located on the renowned Bages plateau in Pauillac, the vineyard covers a productive area of 27 hectares. The vines, with an average age of 35 years, are planted at a density of 8,500 vines per hectare on deep gravel and sandy gravel soils. The grape varieties consist of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot. Certified HVE3 since 2019, the estate practices soil tilling or inter-row grass cover, Poussard pruning, as well as leaf thinning before the manual harvest.

    The vintage
The year was marked by very hot and particularly dry weather conditions. Despite a severe lack of rainfall, welcome rains fell at the end of August and the beginning of September. These conditions allowed for an early harvest of perfectly healthy grapes, with no cryptogamic diseases.

    Vinification and ageing
Vinification is carried out plot by plot in stainless steel tanks of 12 to 120 hectolitres. Alcoholic fermentation lasts five days at a controlled temperature of between 26 and 28°C, with two to three pump-overs daily. Maceration extends over 21 days for the Merlot and 22 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks and in barrels. Ageing begins in November 2025 and lasts 12 months in French oak barrels, 55% of which are new. The final blend also includes 14% press wine. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

    Grape varieties
This wine is the result of a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot.
