    Description

A rich and beautifully concentrated Sauternes wine

    The property
South of Bordeaux, the Château d'Yquem is one of the most beautiful references of the Sauternes appellation. This legendary Premier Cru Classé Supérieur enjoys an exceptional terroir and gives birth to sweet wines that are sought after worldwide.

    The vineyard
The Château d’Yquem is an extraordinary place, nestled in the heart of the hills of the Sauternes appellation, rich in a hundred hectares of vineyards planted on a mosaic of gravelly-sandy terroirs. While the estate extends over 113 hectares of vines, the vineyard in production spreads over about 100 hectares, benefiting from warm and dry soils on the surface with large gravels. The clay soils, on the other hand, allow for good water reserves.

    The vintage
The year 2014 is distinguished by well-marked seasons: a warm spring, a cool summer and a particularly warm autumn. From June to October, average temperatures remained surprisingly constant. At the end of August, after frequent rains, summer finally set in, with temperatures in September and October among the highest since 1896.

    Blend
    Sémillon and sauvignon blanc.

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château d’Yquem 2014

    Tasting

    Nose
A very captivating bouquet that fascinates with its notes of pure and wild honey combined with scents of almond and white chocolate, giving a sensual and precise trace.

    Palate
The palate is ideally balanced, with an acidity close to perfection. It's a harmonious and already accomplished wine. There is a lot of depth, with this line of acidity highlighted by notes of lemon sorbet, orange zest, grated ginger and again some shavings of white chocolate.
