Château de Fargues 2000

Tawny, burnt orange in colour, and straight from the first moment this has a rich complex nose of woodsmoke, walnut, orange peel, cloves, soft touches of truffle. A vintage that is more about spice, smoke and nuance than fruit, packed with subtle layers. A long drawn out harvvest throughout the month of October where they made just 15 barrels over their 15 hectares, but the result is clear in the glass. François Amirault winemaker.

Its subtly oxidative character, on the nose and on the palate, combined with unmatched richness and length, supported by a smooth, sweet liqueur and lifted by a delicate acidity on the finish, creates a harmonious whole of great intensity. Magnificent now, it will be even more so in twenty years.
