    Description

A Fronsac red wine of great simplicity

The Château La Dauphine has a vineyard of 53 hectares in the Fronsac appellation. The terroir consists of a rich and diversified soil that includes clay-limestone and silt-clay on Fronsac mollass (sand and clay). The red wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc with ageing done in oak barrels for 12 months, with one-third of the wine in new oak.

The Château de La Dauphine 2013 reveals a crystalline, brilliant ruby colour. The nose is very discreet, which offers only subtle notes of tart fruit (currant, cranberry). The simplicity reigns in the mouth. The wine offers rather coarse tannins which are due to the complexity of the 2013 vintage. This wine can be cellared until 2023, but it will reach its peak in 2020.
