    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 Château de Marsannay

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a deep cherry red hue, with brilliant clarity and beautiful visual intensity.

    Nose
Powerful and expressive, the bouquet reveals aromas of black fruits such as blackcurrant, cherry and plum. These fruity notes are accompanied by spicy touches, fresh tobacco and subtle mineral nuances.

    Palate
Complex and well-structured, the palate offers concentrated substance with elegant, well-integrated tannins. The refined texture is balanced by a saline minerality, leading to a finish of exceptional aromatic persistence.

    Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with roasted red meats such as filet mignon or veal with mushrooms. It also enhances feathered or furred game, such as pheasant, wild duck or venison, as well as aged hard cheeses.

    Service and storage
To fully appreciate this Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 15 and 17°C. This wine, built for long aging, can be cellared and enjoyed until approximately 2042.

The depth and structure of a Grand Cru from Burgundy

    The estate
Founded in 1990 by the Boisseaux family, Château de Marsannay is located at the gateway to the Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. Designed from the outset to showcase the diversity of the local climats, the estate now spans 40 hectares across prestigious appellations. Since 2012, the property has been run by its current owner, Olivier Halley. Under his leadership and that of his team, the estate has modernized its facilities and committed to an agroecological approach, earning organic farming certification.

    The vineyard
The estate cultivates a plot located in the upper section of the famous Clos Vougeot, in the lieu-dit Les Hautes Baudes. This terroir benefits from a gentle southeast-facing slope, offering optimal sunlight exposure and excellent natural drainage. The vines, planted in 1934, thrive on shallow soils resting on a base of Bajocian limestone, enriched with brown clay and fine silt.

    The vintage
The year stands out for its sunny and generous weather conditions. The growing season benefited from adequate humidity combined with warm, steady temperatures. This mild climate allowed for a gradual and serene ripening of the berries throughout late summer and early autumn, providing ideal conditions for achieving optimal phenolic maturity.

    Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the berries destined for the Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 are entirely de-stemmed. A cold pre-fermentation maceration precedes fermentation with indigenous yeasts, punctuated by gentle punching down and pumping over. The wine is then aged for twelve months in entirely new French oak barrels, followed by five months of rest in tank. The wine undergoes light filtration before bottling, without any fining.
