Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Fixin Village 2025 from Château de Marsannay
Tasting Notes
Appearance
True to the typicity of Pinot Noir in the Côte de Nuits, this Fixin Village 2025 should reveal a vivid, deep ruby colour, reminiscent of the young reds of this appellation.
Nose
In keeping with the tradition of Fixin wines, the nose should lean towards fresh red and black fruit aromas, supported by subtle spicy notes from barrel ageing.
Palate
On the palate, this wine should offer a tannic structure still marked by its youth, in a style usually described as flavourful and classic for this cuvée, carried by the freshness characteristic of Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir.
Food and Wine Pairing
This Fixin Village 2025 is an ideal match for richly flavoured poultry such as duck or goose, as well as game birds, whose flavours it enhances without overpowering them.
Serving and Cellaring
This Fixin Village 2025, still very young and freshly harvested, is currently continuing its ageing. We recommend serving it at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, ideally after a brief decanting to allow its aromas to fully unfold.
The Structure and Richness of a Fixin Village from Château de Marsannay
The Estate
The Château de Marsannay, whose current building was constructed in 1990 on the Route des Grands Crus in Marsannay-la-Côte, in Burgundy, has belonged since 2012 to the Halley family, who also own Château de Meursault. The estate farms 40 hectares organically on the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits, including 28 hectares in the Marsannay appellation. Renowned for its advanced agroecological approach and its parcel-by-parcel vinification, it has established itself as a benchmark producer in the region.
The Vineyard
The wine comes from plots located in Fixin, a village of the Côte de Nuits nestled between Marsannay-la-Côte and Gevrey-Chambertin. This terroir extends the strip of limestone slopes typical of the Côte de Nuits, offering exposures conducive to the ripening of Pinot Noir, in a style often perceived as slightly more robust than some neighbouring villages.
The Vintage
The 2025 vintage comes from a recent harvest, and the wine is still ageing. The information currently available does not allow us to detail the precise climatic conditions of this growing season.
Vinification and Ageing
As with the estate's other red cuvées, the Fixin Village 2025 undergoes a minimally interventionist vinification, favouring gentle infusion over extraction. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for approximately fifteen months, partly in new wood, lending structure and complexity without masking the expression of the terroir.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the Côte de Nuits.
