Description
The delicacy and freshness of a Margaux wine
The estate
The Château Ferrière, located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, has its origins in the 18th century. Since being taken over in 1988 by the Villars family, this 3rd Grand Cru Classé has undergone a remarkable renaissance. Led successively by Bernadette Villars and then by her daughter Claire, the estate is today run by two generations of passionate women, leading figures of the Bordeaux Left Bank.
The vineyard
The Margaux terroir from which this wine originates is distinguished by deep gravel soils resting on clay-limestone marl, which give the wines all their natural elegance. The plots enjoy a privileged microclimate, shaped by the proximity of the Gironde estuary. The 24-hectare vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles, fostering the authentic expression of the terroir as well as biodiversity.
Vinification and ageing
Vinification is carried out plot by plot, with alcoholic fermentations performed exclusively with indigenous yeasts. Macerations between 24°C and 26°C. Vatting for 22 days. No additives are used during vinification, thereby preserving the integrity of the fruit. Ageing lasts 14 months, divided between new barrels (35%), one and two-wine barrels (35%) and alternative containers such as egg-shaped vats and amphorae (30%). Alcohol content: 12.70%.
Blend
This Château Ferrière 2025 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (24%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (4%).
