The balance of a Premier Grand Cru Classé from Sauternes
The property
"La Maison Noble du Bayle", the first name of Château Guiraud was owned by the Mons de Saint Poly family. In 1766 Pierre Guiraud, a Bordeaux merchant, became the owner. In 80 years and three generations, Guiraud has become a prestigious grand cru, crowned in 1855 as a 1st Grand Cru Classé from Sauternes.
The vineyard
Château Giraud benefits from an exceptional 128-hectare vineyard, resting on sandy gravel and clay gravel soils. This Sauternes vineyard has been farmed organically since 1996 and certified since 2011.
The vintage
The climatic conditions of this 2019 year allowed the Botytris cinerea a beautiful implantation in the berries. A good development of the latter on freshly ripe berries preserved and amplified the aromatic vivacity of the grapes.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest from September 8 to October 11, successive sorting of botrytized grapes. Fermentation in oak barrels, 3 to 6 weeks. Aging in barrels for 18 to 24 months.
