    A great wine from Pessac-Léognan, both elegant and powerful

    The property

    Château Haut-Brion, founded in the 16th century by Jean de Pontac, is the oldest of the Bordeaux Grands Crus, located in Pessac. With a vineyard of 48 hectares, it produces about 12,000 cases per year, mainly from merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Since 1935, the Dillon family has been managing it, preserving its heritage and reputation.

    The vintage

    2006 was marked in the Pessac-Léognan appellation by a contrasting climate, with a hot and dry spring and summer. The harvest took place from September 7 to 29.

    Vinification and aging

    Aging in barrels (81% new).

    Blend

    Merlot (57%), cabernet sauvignon (41%) and cabernet franc (2%)
