    Vinum

Pale ruby; delicate nose of plums, dried herbs, raspberries; on the palate, silk-smooth, a slightly creamy entry, then it tightens up; the sweet, ripe fruit is kept in check by powdery tannins; crisp acidity, impressive length, red-fruited finish. On par with the excellent 2022. A lot of wine for the money.

    Decanter

Dark nose with liquorice and black chocolate and blackcurrant aromas. Smells deep and ripe with some minerality too. Lovely density on the palate with strong minerality - some metallic elements. Graphite and liquorice, clean and clear. This is super precise in terms of tannins and clarity of fruit. A little compact still. It has juiciness matched with push and a soft chew - some density on the mid palate. Good structure, quite serious but well made. A yield of 34hl/ha. 3.50pH.

Truffle, flowers, and black cherries form the core of this wine. The palate is fresh and fruity, with loads of charm, leaving you with strawberries and cherries in the mid-palate and on the finish. The wine is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. It is produced from some of the oldest vines in the appellation, with plantings dating back to 1870! Drink from 2027-2035. 90-92 pts

    Le Figaro Vin

A fresh, feline and seductive nose, with notes of ripe black fruits (blackberry, bramble). On the palate, sweet red fruits unfold in a velvety texture before giving way to a spicy, subtly peppery finish.

Creamy raspberry fruits, white pepper and cloves on the opening, with lemongrass and pumice stone reflecting the limestone terroir. Highest point of Gironde at 130m, Thomas Duclos consultant. Harvest 29 September to 7 October. 3.5 pH 34 hl/ha.

    Jean-Marc Quarin

Beautiful deep, intense red. Aromatic nose with ripe fruit. Smooth, melt-in-the-mouth palate, with a mouthfeel reminiscent of a dry white wine. It’s delicious. Medium length. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.2% - pH: 3.48. Yield: 34 hl/ha.

    Description

A generous and delicate Côtes de Castillon wine

    The estate
Acquired by the Bécot family in 2001, Château Joanin Bécot is a wine estate located in the Côtes de Castillon, east of Bordeaux. Under the leadership of Juliette Bécot, the château stands out for its ambition to showcase the appellation through rigorous and innovative viticultural practices, while preserving the family heritage and the distinctive character of its terroir.

    The vineyard
The Château Joanin Bécot vineyard extends over 15.50 hectares of clay-limestone soils in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The vines, around 40 years old, benefit from a terroir similar to that of neighbouring Saint-Émilion, offering ideal conditions for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grown there to express themselves fully.

    Winemaking and ageing
Plot-by-plot vinification with manual punching down. Vatting for around 40 days. Malolactic fermentation in vats. The wine is aged in barrels (10% new, 25% second-fill), in vats (53%), in amphorae (2%) and in foudres (10%).

    Blend
This Château Joanin Bécot 2024 is a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
