    Vinum

Subtle reduction that fades with air, woody spice, plums, cherries; light palate, red-fruited, balanced; no overwhelming tannins, zesty acidity; medium-length finish. Built for early drinking.

    Decanter

This is a little muted and light, with blueberry fruit and toasted cherries. Spice and savoury notes with gentle acidity. The tannins are really great and this isn’t too dry, but the flavours and the soft fruit density haven’t quite come together yet.

Forward, black cherry filled, medium-bodied wine for early drinking pleasure with a finish leaning toward minty/herbal notes. Drink from 2027-2032. 86-88 pts

    Le Figaro Vin

The nose is hard to grasp on this sample, but the palate, nicely fresh, unfurls a lovely texture and juicy fruit. Playful, slightly sweet red berries add a sappy touch and a gourmand persistence.

    Description

A seductive expression of freshness and elegance from a great Pomerol terroir

    The estate

For nearly six centuries, the Château La Croix de Gay has been overlooking an exceptional terroir in Pomerol. The Raynaud-Lebreton family, now at the head of the estate, comes from a winemaking family since 1772, established in the commune of Pomerol since 1447.

    The vineyard

Château La Croix de Gay is a Pomerol wine from a 4.2-hectare vineyard planted on günzian gravel and Mindel gravel on clay.

    Vinification and aging

The grapes are hand-picked and undergo a maceration period of 23 to 25 days. The aging is carried out in barrels (41.5% new, 58.5% of one wine).

    Blend

This Château La Croix de Gay 2024 is the result of a blend of merlot (96.8%) and cabernet franc (3.2%).
