The elegance and freshness of a Pomerol wine

    The estate

Located in the renowned region of Bordeaux, the Château La Croix de Gay is one of the oldest family-owned estates in the appellation. Officially established as a wine estate in 1772, although the family’s history on these lands dates back to 1477, this 4-hectare vineyard is now managed by Chantal Raynaud-Lebreton. Château La Croix de Gay stands out for its strong identity and deeply Bordeaux style, offering wines renowned for their purity, depth, and elegance.

    The vineyard

This garden-like vineyard benefits from a unique hillside location facing north within the Pomerol appellation. The vines, spread across several plots, thrive on soils composed of ancient gravel over clay, as well as pure blue clay particularly rich in iron oxides.

    The vintage

The season was marked by water stress that naturally limited vine yields. Despite these conditions, the growing cycle was able to conclude under exceptional weather, allowing for early harvests and optimal berry ripeness.

    Winemaking and aging

The harvest is carried out entirely by hand. The merlot berries were picked between September 5 and 10, followed by cabernet franc on September 12. Maceration lasts between 23 and 25 days. The aging of Château La Croix de Gay 2025 is then carried out entirely in barrels, with 35% new oak and 65% one-year-old barrels, under the guidance of oenologist Axel Marchal.

    Grape varieties

The blend of this Château La Croix de Gay 2025 is composed of 86.5% merlot and 13.5% cabernet franc.
