    Description

The freshness and richness of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

    The estate

The history of Château La Marzelle began in the 17th century. Today, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé shines with wines that are typical of its appellation.

    The vineyard

The vineyard of Château La Marzelle represents 14.95 hectares in a single block on the former bed of the Isle, also known as the "Haute Terrasse de Saint-Émilion." The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on soils composed of ancient sands, deep gravels and blue clays. They produce a great Saint-Émilion wine.

    The vintage

The vintage began normally with budburst close to the average date. Fortunately, the spring frost was much less devastating than the previous year, as it began earlier in the first days of April. The sunny trend of the vintage began in May, with temperatures that were constantly higher than normal until September. The restorative rains in June enabled the vines to get through this scorching summer and bring extremely rich grapes to ripeness.

    Winemaking and ageing

Following the harvest, the grapes were meticulously sorted by densimetry and grading. The wine was vinified by parcel with great precision in stainless steel truncated cone-shaped vats or in barrels. The wine was aged in new French oak barrels and also in terracotta jars.

    Blend

    Merlot (80%)
    Cabernet Franc (15%)
    Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
