Château Monbousquet : Key Points

Located to the south-west of the village of Saint-Émilion, the history of Château Monbousquet goes back to 1540. Over the centuries the property underwent significant development, through several owners, until the beginning of the 20th century, followed by a period of decline. Daniel Querre, winemaker and oenologist, acquired the property in 1945 with the ambition of fully expressing the potential of this neglected vineyard. The acquisition in 1993 of the property by Chantal and Gérard Perse marks its qualitative renewal through a major restructuring of the vineyard, the château and the winemaking and ageing infrastructures. Château Monbousquet was promoted to Grand Cru Classé in 2006.

Covering an area of 32 hectares, the vineyard of Château Monbousquet reveals a large mosaic of terroirs. On average 42 years of age, the vines are planted on sandy and sandy clay soils with iron residue between 60 and 80 cm deep but also on sandy-gravelly and sandy-clay soils. The grape varieties are made up of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
