Located in the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation, Château Bellevue is a magnificent property with a 3-hectare vineyard. It benefits from an exceptional terroir made up of clay-limestone and clay-silica soils, ideal for the expression of the Merlot grape variety, which makes up 100% of the vineyard. These soils give the wines incomparable complexity and aromatic richness.
A historic heritage and ancestral know-how
Château Bellevue is a Bordeaux estate steeped in history, whose name reflects the beauty of its location. It has stood the test of time, retaining its authentic character and wine-making expertise. Over time, it has distinguished itself in the world of wine thanks to its determination to carry forward traditions while adapting to modern techniques. Now owned by the Pradel de Lavaux family, it is recognised as one of the jewels in the crown of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation.
Commitment to nature and the quality of the grapes
At Château Bellevue, the vines are treated with the greatest respect and with the constant aim of preserving the environment. The work in the vineyard favours traditional methods and manual intervention, such as de-budding, de-stemming, tying up shoots and leaf thinning. Integrated pest management is used to limit treatments and guarantee high-quality grapes, while preserving the natural balance of the soil and biodiversity.
Careful vinification for exceptional wines
Vinification is meticulous and precise. The grapes are harvested by hand, over several trips, to select only the ripest and healthiest grapes. The Merlot grapes are then sorted, de-stemmed and vatted by gravity, in small-capacity vats to preserve the integrity of the grapes , improve plot management and ensure perfect control of fermentation.
Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, to control temperatures and fermentation times. Extractions are carried out gently to extract the best aromas and the finest tannins.
Ageing is a key element in the development of Château Bellevue wines. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 20 months. This crucial stage refines the structure of the wines, adding complexity and roundness while respecting the fruit and terroir.
