    Decanter

Showing just how close the Figeac plateau is to the St-Emilion/Pomerol borders, here is a Pomerol estate using the same name (owned by Nathalie Despagne family of Grand Corbin Despagne). Tight and concentrated black fruits, strong liquorice and coffee aromatics, excellent fresh lift on the finish with crushed mint notes. Good quality. A yield of 38hl/ha. Certified organic since 2009.

Bright, fresh, juicy black and red fruits dipped in chocolate and washed down with a strong cup of freshly brewed coffee, surrounded by wet earth, is what you’re going to find here. 89-91 pts

    Bettane+Desseauve

Caressing on the attack, finely silky through the mid-palate, with a body more slender than spherical, yet very pure aromatically. Subtle and crafted with precision.

Nathalie Despagne delivers a lovely result in this challenging vintage on her home turf. La Rose Figeac is always a delicate wine, never powerful. Nevertheless, I draw your attention to the precision of the execution and the immediate pleasure it can provide. Dark, intense color. Delicate, fruity, subtle, and perfumed nose. From the very first sip, the meticulous texture emerges, with precise aromas on an almost lace-like touch. The whole is highly seductive, with flavor lingering on the finish. Ideal for restaurants or for those who do not wish to wait too long for their bottles. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.

    Description

The balance of a great fruity and smooth Pomerol red wine

    The property

It was from 1938 that Louis Rapin acquired vineyards in the Montagne Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion appellations, including Château La Tour Figeac. Following the acquisition of various vineyard plots in 1961, Louis Rapin renamed the whole Château La Rose Figeac. This Pomerol estate located on the right bank of Bordeaux has been managed by Nathalie Despagne since 2013. Upon her arrival, Nathalie Despagne undertook numerous works to allow Château La Rose Figeac to shine in the Pomerol appellation.

    The vineyard

Located in the southeast of Pomerol, the 4.56 hectares of vineyard of Château La Rose Figeac are planted on sandy-gravelly soils typical of the appellation. Between plowing, grassing and green work, the vineyard plots, averaging 30 years old, have been cultivated using organic farming certified by Ecocert since 2009.

    Vinification and aging

Manual harvest. Sorting by density. Traditional and parcel vinification. Pumping over, racking and light punching down. Pre-fermentation cold maceration from 3 to 8 days. Thermo-regulated alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation in vats. Indigenous yeasts. Maceration of 4 weeks. Parcel aging. Barrels from 6 different cooperages (50% new, 25% one wine, 25% two wines).
