    Decanter

Intense dark ruby in hue, this Saint-Estèphe reveals a powerful and bold profile, characteristic of its appellation. The nose is marked by earthy tones and a touch of oak, leading to a palate that is tight and grippy, with bold tannins and a muscular structure. While the fruit presence is subdued, the wine exhibits a classic, old-school Bordeaux character, with astringent notes and a slightly unbalanced profile at this stage. The finish is earthy and peppery.

    Leve Jeff

A jolt of bright, fresh red currants, topped with espresso, strawberries, and cocoa on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is crisp and firm, with a minty, herbal note on the finish. Drink from 2027–2037. 87–89 pts

    Le Figaro Vin

Score: 84–86. Strong reduction on the nose, aromas of hot coffee. The palate feels crushed by the élevage, even though the fresh framework brings a touch of brightness.

Characteristics and Tasting Advice for Château Laffitte Carcasset 2024

    Tasting

    Color
    Beautiful bright color.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals a persistent and refined palette of fresh fruits.

    Palate
On the palate, this Saint-Estèphe is distinguished by its delicate tannins, its balance, and its intense yet delicate fruity framework.

An elegant and finely precise Saint-Estèphe wine

    The estate
Founded in 1759, Château Laffitte Carcasset is a benchmark estate in Saint-Estèphe. Since 2016, the estate has belonged to the Rousseau family, who continue its excellence with passion.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Laffitte Carcasset covers 35 hectares within the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are planted on a characteristic terroir of Garonne gravel on the surface and a clay-limestone subsoil.

    The vintage
The 2024 vintage is distinguished by its resilience in the face of demanding climatic conditions. An exceptionally wet winter replenished the soil's water reserves, followed by a challenging spring marked by disease pressure. Despite a vegetative delay, flowering and ripening took place under favorable conditions thanks to a summer balanced between heat and drought. The harvest, late but precise, benefited from ideal weather windows and rigorous sorting.

    Vinification and aging
Strict intra-parcel selection. Vinification in stainless steel and concrete vats takes place in the new gravity-fed cellar, favoring slow and gentle extractions to preserve aromatic finesse. Aging is carried out over 12 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are new wood.

    Blend
81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
