    Wine Spectator

    James Molesworth

Delivers dusty-edged cherry and damson plum notes, which give way to a prominent cedary edge on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2025. 15,000 cases made.

    Decanter

Upfront and juicy but with a tension to it, quite focused and streamlined at this point. Fine but slightly chalky tannins give the gentle structure while the flavours persist in one line from start to finish. Could be quite severe but the tannins are soft and this has a juicy red fruit appeal with some bramble, cedar and toast aspects on the finish. Will be lovely and easy to enjoy. Eric Boissenot consultant. 1% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

Tasted blind. Dark, purplish crimson. Some ripeness on the nose. Zesty energy. Quite vibrant! A hint of orange peel. Slightly dry finish. (JR)

    Jeff Leve

    Leve Jeff

Peppery notes, red fruits, herbs and underbrush open on the nose. The medium-bodied palate is loaded with black currants, peppery herbs, green olives and dusty tannins. This is more in line with some of the Lanessans produced in the past. Drink from 2024–2037.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate aromas of dark cherry fruit with hints of clove and tobacco. Red cherries on the palate with a slender texture, fresh acidity and a fine, nutty finish.

Attractive aromatics, this is sappy, a touch of smoke, well handled, high spice, bright and breezy, good quality. Owned by the Bouteiller family, Eric Boissenot consultant, harvest September 22 to October 12.

    The Wine Independent

    Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2021 Lanessan has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It skips out with vibrant notes of Bing cherries and fresh raspberries, with touches of lavender and tilled soil in the background. The light to medium-bodied palate is lively and light on its feet, with soft tannins and a lifted finish.

    Yves Beck

Lanessan’s bouquet unfolds with precision and detail. The freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon is promising and lends character, both on the nose and on the palate. Supported well by its tannins, the wine has body and benefits from a mouthwatering structure. It does, however, need to gain in flavor expression, which it will with a bit of cellaring.

    Terre de Vins

Brilliance, intensity, vitality and freshness—the nose is immediately enticing. An appetizing, fresh fruit unfolds. The blend, dominated by Cabernet (57%), includes a notable share of Petit Verdot (7.4%), which lends extra personality. The palate is lively and taut, built on a fine acidic spine, with lovely substance, finely sketched tannins and an elegantly granular touch.

    Le Figaro Vin

Black fruit on the nose, with an animal note and fine oak. Sumptuous on the palate, with a core of sweet fruit.
