    Vinum

Perfumed, reminiscent of blackberry soda, with floral tones. Accessible, round and balanced on the palate, light-bodied, with fine-grained tannins. Not particularly persistent.

    Decanter

Floral-scented red fruits on the nose. Juicy and creamy, maybe less vibrant and energetic than some, but good presentation, well worked, clean and crisp. Feels confident if not that expansive right now. Bold and robust though I do love the chalkiness at the end. Tasted twice.

Plums, tobacco and cherries make their presence known from the start. The wine is open, forward, medium-bodied, bright, and chewy, with a touch of green olives, dusty cherries and mint that show in the finish. Drink from 2024-2033.

    Falstaff

    Falstaff

Dark ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate wood spices with fine notes of red cherries on the nose and nuances of orange zest. Medium body, red berries and fresh, fine tannins with an elegant mineral and well-balanced finish. Generous and already drinking very well.

Bright red fruits, roses, spicy herbs, and some loamy earth-like notes all emerge from the 2021 Château Malescasse, a charming, medium-bodied, finesse-driven effort that has lots of complexity and charm. It will drink well for 7–8 years.

    Weinwisser

Delicately filigreed red-berried bouquet, subtle hibiscus note, light graphite and lingonberry purée. On the generous palate with a soft texture, grainy extract, supporting drive and medium body. In the focused finish, a full load of red cherries, dried thyme and finely sandy astringency. Cannot (quite) repeat last year’s outstanding result.

Enjoyable, well handled, with sappy dark fruits; good overall quality, subdued and in the character of the vintage, but with Médoc typicity. An enjoyable early- to medium-term drinker.

Freshness dominates the bouquet of Malescasse 2021, with vegetal yet ripe notes. That nuance matters 😉 Notes of eucalyptus, mint leaves, and blackcurrant. Linear in character, the wine shows a certain density and insistent tannins that advocate for and stretch the finish. A wine with character that will be interesting to follow as it evolves. I even think it has respectable aging potential, but it may well be drunk sooner, as it’s already very good now!

    Terre de Vins

The nose reveals lovely freshness with roasted notes and fruit, somewhere between red and black. The attack is broad, and the wine is highly drinkable and approachable. The fruit is respected, with tangy, gourmand notes. The finish is delicate and saline.
