    Decanter

Gorgeously pure blackcurrants and black cherries, so precise and fragrant on the nose – really intense and expressive. Sumptuous and succulent, this has a great juiciness with plenty of life and energy. Tannins are prominent and filling but soft and velvety not dry at all. Feels well made.

Blackberries, black cherries, chocolate-mint, flowers, wet earth, and licorice create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is supple, sweet, round, and juicy. Packed with ripe, lush cherries, the bright, elegant finish feels as good as it tastes. Give it a few years in the bottle, and it will be ready to go, though, it is important to note that wine has the potential to age for 2-3 decades with ease. The wine blends 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Harvesting took place September 8 - September 23. Yields were low at only 23 hectares per hectare. Drink from 2029-2055. 94-96 Pts

This is very clearly in the spirit of the vintage but manages to deliver depth and succulence, good balance, leafy blackcurrant and raspberry character, saffron and black pepper and freshly cut herbs. Harvest September 8 to 23. 40% new oak. 23 hl/ha. Yield 22 hl/ha

Intense notes of black berries, complemented by hints of black pepper, emerge from the bouquet of Marquis de Terme, which also clearly reflects its ageing. Guided by supple, fine-grained tannins, the wine combines power and charm. The overall impression is harmonious, supported by a refreshing structure. I believe the wine still needs to finish settling into place, which it will do during the ageing to come, but the outlook is promising.

Deep, dark color with purple highlights. An intense nose with ripe, creamy fruit. Becomes spicy when the glass is swirled. Supple on entry, flavorful through the mid-palate, with a lovely texture; the wine builds progressively from the mid-palate to the finish, where it grows fresh and profound. Long and very good. Blend: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot. Alcohol: 13%. Yield: 23 hl/ha.

    Vinum

Deep-dark in color and aroma, with ripe fruit, Christmas spices, oregano, and dark chocolate; a powerful palate with generous fruit, a creamy texture, and noticeable oak, kept in check by the fruit; clearly extracted, yet not overdone; pleasantly long and impressively fresh on the finish. Very good quality in its own style.

    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Château Marquis de Terme 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
A beautifully intense and vibrant colour, adorned with deep violet hues.

    Nose
The bouquet proves particularly expressive, unveiling pure, lively aromas of freshly picked red berries.

    Palate
The attack offers the crunch and relief of a Merlot bursting with freshness, before giving way to the dominant structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The texture rests on remarkably silky tannins, underlined by a mineral hint of graphite. The whole stretches towards a finish that is at once fleshy, elegant, harmonious and full of indulgence.

    Food and wine pairings
This red wine will pair wonderfully with roasted or grilled red meats, such as a fine cut of beef or lamb. It will also brilliantly accompany game dishes, as well as long-aged hard cheeses.

    Serving and cellaring
To fully enjoy Château Marquis de Terme 2025, it is recommended to decant it between one and three hours before serving. Endowed with excellent potential, it can be kept in the cellar and enjoyed until around 2045.

The elegance of a great Margaux cru

    The estate
While the origins of this Bordeaux estate date back to the 15th century, its official creation corresponds to the year 1762, when the Marquis de Terme gave it his name. Located in the famous Gironde commune, this property steeped in history has belonged to the Sénéclauze family since 1935. Today, Paloma Sénéclauze, from the fourth generation of owners, leads this estate which, blessed with a fine reputation, upholds strong environmental values and an identity that highlights the specific features of a unique terroir.

    The vineyard
Stretching over 45 hectares between Cantenac and Margaux, the vineyard lies on the finest plateaus of the appellation. It is divided into two main types of soil: deep gravels over a clay-limestone subsoil, ideal for providing structure and density, and finer gravels that bring freshness and elegance. The vines are managed according to a rigorous intra-plot division. Committed to an environmental approach respectful of biodiversity, notably through the planting of hedges, the estate holds the High Environmental Value (HVE 4), Terra Vitis and Bee Friendly certifications.

    The vintage
The year began with a dry and mild winter, encouraging good budburst, followed by a swift flowering from mid-May. The first part of the season, marked by heat and a lack of rainfall, led to early water stress. After véraison, which took place in early July, a scorching August significantly accelerated the ripening of the berries. Fortunately, welcome rainfall at the end of August helped to rebalance the growing cycle, resulting in an early harvest under the best possible conditions.

    Winemaking and aging
The vinification is carried out plot by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel, wooden and concrete vats. Gravity-fed vatting, with no pumping. After cold pre-fermentation macerations, alcoholic fermentation is triggered using carefully selected yeasts, accompanied by regular punch-downs. The wine then benefits from a bespoke fourteen-month ageing in French oak barrels comprising 40% new wood, in order to fully respect the expression of each batch. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

    Grape varieties
