    Decanter

Shiny and sleek, a lovely silky texture with bright but rich and clearly concentrated black and red summer berry fruits with succulent and juicy tannins that give a soft grip and hold on the palate. Clean and well worked with a chalky, crushed stone aspect to the finish. Despite the power underneath this is lifted and enjoyable. Aged for 30 months in French oak, 30% new. Eric Boissenot consultant.

    James Suckling

This offers dark berries, plum skins, hints of sweet spices and earthy undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with well-defined structure and firm tannins, it has a deep core of succulent fruit and a lingering aftertaste. Try from 2028.

Intense crimson colour, inky depths that are relatively rare in St Julien, reflecting the small size of the berries. The cooling influence on the Garonne river helps mitigate this density, and this delivers juicy black fruits and a mineral tingle on the palate along with lemongrass, slate, orange peel, tobacco, cigar box. Signature estate character. One to look out for, this is a great value St Julien. Eric Boissenot consultant.

Purple-black color. Very aromatic nose, fruity and subtle, with lovely black-fruit aromas. Supple on the attack, exceptionally velvety mid-palate, the wine melts on the palate—juicy, powerful, and long—with a finish of wrapped, polished tannins. It’s superb.
