    Decanter

Forward and lively, this has great energy and focus. Cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant - yum, juicy and almost sweet but with acidity giving bite and tang to the expression too. Mouth watering but also mouth cleaning, this ends super mineral with graphite, iron, dark chocolate, clove, cola and mint. It’s not so fleshy, more straightforward and a touch tense but I like the underlying power and sense of juicy charm. Crystalline, a touch spiced on the finish. This needs time and maybe to fill out a little but great potential. Reverse osmosis to keep concentration. Ageing 18 months, 30% new barrels. 3.63pH.

Flowers, cherries, tobacco, and cedar aromas are easy to find. The palate is light, but with soft, elegant fruits, and sweet strawberries, cherries, and plums, with a hint of cocoa in the easy-to-like, charming finish. You can enjoy this on release, and for at least a decade or more after that. The wine is a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 15% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2037. 90-92 Pts

    Le Figaro Vin

A restrained nose, hinting at generous purple fruit and earthy iris nuances. On the palate, the substance is fleshy and ample, with concentrated, enticing fruit and a fluid, supple texture.

Moulin Riche’s bouquet immediately makes you want to taste the wine! Notes of blackcurrant and liquorice, along with a hint of mint, clearly contribute to this, as does its freshness. The silky texture on the palate suggests careful extraction, as does the aging. The tannins, already well integrated, bring depth and energy, while the structure delivers freshness and length. A promising wine.

Vivid summery fruit character, with cheerful ruby red colour, with spice, freshly cut herbs, slate and graphite adding depth and interest. Lovely texture overall but needs a bit of time to soften, suggest four years before drinking. Harvest 24 September to 10 October. 3.62 pH. 26.42hl/ha

Deep, intense red colour. Highly aromatic nose with ripe, subtle fruit. Delicate on the attack and flavoursome through the mid-palate, the wine remains a little discreet on the finish. Medium length. Blend: 46% cabernet sauvignon, 39% merlot, 15% petit verdot. Alcohol: 13° - pH: 3.63 – IPT: 57.

    Description

An elegant Saint-Julien wine from an exceptional terroir in Médoc

    The property
The Château Moulin Riche, located in Saint-Julien, is a 20-hectare estate acquired by the Cuvelier family in 1920. Initially the second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré, it became an independent brand in 2009, distinguished by a rigorous selection of parcels. The vineyard, mainly planted with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot, benefits from black gravel soils and traditional viticultural practices. Under the direction of Sara Lecompte Cuvelier, the estate has been HVE 3 certified since 2017, affirming its environmental commitment.

    The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Moulin Riche extends over 20 hectares in the Saint-Julien appellation. The vines, with an average age of 37 years, are planted on soils composed of "black gravel", small Garonne gravels resting on a subsoil of sand and clay. This unique composition of the terroir gives the wine its typicity and finesse characteristic of the great Saint-Julien.

    Vinification and aging
Manual harvests accompanied by rigorous sorting before vinification starting with a semi-parcel selection and bioprotection with non-saccharomyces yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place 25% in new barrels. The aging continues for 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new wood.

    Blend
The Château Moulin Riche 2024 consists of 46% cabernet sauvignon providing structure and aging potential, 39% merlot contributing to the roundness and fruit, and 15% petit verdot adding color and aromatic complexity.
