Château Olivier 2016

Still very restrained, yet compact in style, distinctly mineral with good density and length.

Lovely, with streaming verbena and chamomile notes pulling straw, white peach, yellow apple and gooseberry flavors along with them. The long salted butter finish has lovely tension. Drink now through 2021. 2,500 cases made.

Clear minerality spirals through this wine. It has a salinity and grip that's just totally seductive. A more subtle and intellectual white than some, it has a fierce sense of energy and is just frankly delicious. A touch of reduction at this stage.

Melon, white peaches and lemons on the nose of this generous but fresh white. Quite a salty, mineral finish, with a touch of tannin. A good food wine. Drink or hold.

Smoky, creamy citrus. Classic Pessac aroma – pure with incipient complexity. Wonderful acidity makes this mouth-watering and moreish. There’s depth and intensity balanced by freshness and vitality. (JH)

This is ready for prime-time drinking if you like your white Bordeaux on the fresh side, with loads of juicy yellow citrus fruits and a hint of honey.

Bright straw colour with a youthful green hue. Pure and perfumed nose, displaying some floral notes, confit lemon, fresh pineapple and some honeyed notes. Very nice palate with both density and freshness, ripe citrus and lemongrass flavours, some “fat” notes of wax and honey with a very long and bright aftertaste.

The 2016 Château Olivier Blanc has a bracing minerality as well as medium-bodied notes of tart peach, crushed rock, and lemon zest. It’s clean, beautifully balanced, and has balancing texture. The whites in 2016 are top notch, with both richness and freshness, and this is a great example.

Pale yellow with a delicate green shimmer. Fragrant greengages and flint, with lime in the background. On the slim, finely wired palate with ripe acidity, white pepper and lemongrass on a medium finish.

The white 2016 Olivier cruises out with ready-to-go notes of baked apples, juicy pears, and sea spray, with a hint of coriander seed. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers satisfying apple and pear layers with balanced acidity and a peppery lift on the finish.

The white is round and warm, carrying the richness of the vintage, with an early evolution showing honeyed notes.

Fresh nose of yellow fruits, fresh pineapple, honeyed. Palate savory, easy-drinking, saline, very long, enveloping.

Golden yellow. Beautiful aromatic intensity, with a complex character featuring fruity and floral notes. Pleasant hints of pineapple, anise, blond tobacco, and acacia blossoms. On the palate, the wine is slightly saline on the attack. It has richness, pedigree, and is ideally supported by its structure. This provides freshness and promises good ageing potential. A great success.

Pale color with green highlights. Intense, delicate, fruity nose. Nuances of sauvignon and mint. Pleasant to the touch, smooth and fragrant, the wine unfolds gently with medium body and length. Drink it young.

This is a ripe style of wine, rich with white fruits as well as having a more herbal character. Spice from wood aging shows lightly, contrasting with the generous fruitiness and mineral texture. Drink the wine from 2023.
