Tasting

Nose
Deep and expressive, the nose unveils aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by notes of fresh black fruits. A noble and particularly well-integrated oak character underlines this rich aromatic palette.

Palate
The attack is fresh and fruity, revealing a pleasantly crunchy character. The structure, both straight and refined, offers beautiful density along with remarkable tension. The tannins, of very high quality, prove supple and velvety. The whole shines through its elegance and depth, stretching out at length towards a saline finish.

Serving and cellaring
Endowed with great ageing potential, this wine is built for a long evolution in the cellar. It will begin to fully open up around 2032 and can be kept to be enjoyed until approximately 2055.

The elegance and depth of a great Pauillac wine

The estate
Founded in 1810, Château Pédesclaux is a historic Bordeaux property that quickly earned its credentials by becoming a Fifth Growth Classified in 1855. Located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation, the estate today extends over a vineyard of around 48 hectares. Since 2009, the current owners, Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti, have brought a new dynamic to the property, modernising the facilities with a gravity-fed cellar and converting all the land to organic farming. The estate is now run by Emmanuel Cruse, combining respect for the terroir with technical excellence.

The vineyard
Located on the Left Bank in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, the estate's exceptional terroir rests on Garonne gravel typical of the region, overlying a limestone subsoil. This ideal geology ensures perfect drainage while restoring warmth to the vines. Divided into nineteen distinct microterroirs, the estate benefits from the regulating influence of the Gironde estuary. All the plots are managed according to the principles of organic viticulture, promoting soil health and the preservation of the environment.

The vintage
The year began with a mild and rather dry winter, followed by a clement spring, spared from frost and excess humidity. Welcome rainfall around Easter preceded a hot summer, perfectly managed thanks to meticulous work in the vineyards. At the end of August, restorative rains helped to refine the balance of the berries. The growing cycle was marked by a homogeneous flowering and an even veraison, leading to an early harvest carried out in excellent conditions.

Winemaking and ageing
On their arrival at the cellar, the grapes underwent an extremely rigorous sorting process. Vinification was conducted with great precision, favouring gentle extractions and macerations spanning two to three weeks to preserve the harmony of the fruit. This great wine is aged 50% in new oak barrels. Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Grape varieties
The blend is composed of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
