    Decanter

Gorgeous vibrant pink rim to the wine with violet aromas on the nose, very dark but very perfumed and not at all hot or sunny. So juicy and alive with structure – the soft tannins give the outline while the real fruit purity sits in the middle. I love this a lot, very approachable, streamlined and focused with layers of fine tannins and brightness. You can feel the concentration in the construction but this carries a really fun, friendly, welcoming aspect because of the juiciness on the mid-palate. 50% grand vin production. 3.67pH. Ageing 18 months, 60% new oak. 0.5% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

Showing a depth of color, at first, you are almost overwhelmed by the violets, cherries and tobacco in the perfume. The initial sip shows off its character with elegance, vitality, and purity. Everything is in balance and harmony here. The silk and velvet finish is almost too much of a good thing. From start to finish, the wine is seamless, and even though there is intensity and serious concentration, the wine feels almost weightless, making this deceptively easy to drink. Yet, don't be fooled. It has all the goods needed to age and evolve for decades. The wine blends of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon. 33% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot and .5 Cabernet Franc. 13.5% ABV. 3.67 pH. Harvesting took place September 2 - September 24. Yield were 29 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2070. 97-99 Pts

Inky colour, this is sleek, powerful, a ton of energy and uplift, very classy, bouncy, feel that you are very much in the heart of rose bud and iris flowers, DNA of the Margaux appellation, liquorice and black chocolate, really a skilfully constructed wine that will power through the years. Nicolas Audebert. Harvest September 2 to 24, 29hl/ha yield, 3.67ph.

Right from the start, depth is evident in Rauzan-Ségla’s bouquet, along with an impressive complexity. Subtle nuances of sweet spices appear discreetly, while inviting notes of violet and blackberry, completed by a touch of black pepper, highlight both freshness and ripeness. The creamy attack heralds a full-bodied, powerful wine. With rare consistency, it forges the link between charm, power and character, with finesse as its guiding thread. A wine distinguished by the incisive nature of its acidic framework and the velvety touch of its tannins, in a vibrant setting with an exceptional surge of energy. A truly great wine.

Deep, intense, beautiful colour with black highlights. Highly aromatic nose, with ripe fruit enhanced by a rare touch of violet. The whole is pure and delicate. Extremely precise on the attack, with a brilliant burst of floral fruit at mid-palate, the wine unfolds fragrant, delicate and tasty through to a long, powerful finish with fine-grained tannins. Superb! Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 13.5% - pH: 3.67. Press wine: 14%. Yield: 29 hl/ha.

Wow, an aromatic profile you want to linger over; playful, floral, complex, deep, cool; a highly elegant palate, superb tannins, crisp fruit, dancing lightness, full of energy and life, great tension, excellent length. Once again, this Rauzan-Ségla is beyond doubt. A great Margaux show.

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Château Rauzan-Ségla 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
This wine reveals a particularly dense and deep colour.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet displays remarkable precision, revealing a pure fruitiness in which fresh plum and black cherry intertwine. This ensemble is delicately underlined by floral notes marked by violet and dark petals.

    Palate
The attack offers a superb balance between liveliness and serenity. A fresh framework lightens and structures a material with a compact, fine and almost satiny texture. The tannins, both vibrant and silky, accompany a long floral finish subtly extended by a mineral touch.

    Food and wine pairings
This cuvée will pair wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, such as a beef fillet or a rack of lamb. It will also enhance characterful poultry dishes with mushrooms, or, after a few years of cellaring, slow-cooked dishes and furred game.

    Serving and cellaring
Château Rauzan-Ségla 2025 has a remarkable ageing potential. It can be fully enjoyed after eight to ten years of cellaring and will reach its peak between 2043 and 2060, approximately, after the harvest to reveal all its complexity.

The elegance and precision of a great Margaux cru

    The estate
Founded in 1661 by Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, Château Rauzan-Ségla is a historic estate of Bordeaux, elevated to the rank of Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Now owned by Maison Chanel (the Wertheimer family) and led by Nicolas Audebert, this prestigious estate combines a centuries-old heritage with a modern vision, marked by a constant pursuit of freshness, finesse and a successful conversion to organic farming.

    The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, near the Gironde estuary, the terroir of approximately 70 hectares stretches across a mosaic of soils made up of fine, deep gravels resting on clay and clay-limestone subsoils. The vines benefit from a regulating microclimate and are entirely managed according to the principles of organic farming.

    The vintage
The year began with a mild and rather dry winter, followed by a wet and cool April. May saw a sudden warming accompanied by stormy instability. From mid-June onwards, summer set in with very dry and hot conditions, punctuated by heatwaves. However, a strong thermal amplitude between day and night helped preserve the freshness of the berries until the harvest, which took place under rather cool temperatures.

    Vinification and ageing
To craft Château Rauzan-Ségla 2025, the teams carry out a rigorous plot-by-plot and intra-plot vinification. The grapes are conveyed by gravity into temperature-controlled stainless steel vats in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The wine then undergoes ageing for 18 months, including 60% new oak barrels. Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

    Grape varieties
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (33%), Petit Verdot (1.5%) and Cabernet Franc (0.5%).
