The estate
Located in Martillac, in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, the renowned Château Smith Haut Lafitte boasts a history that dates back to 1365. This iconic estate stands out thanks to its exceptional terroir. Owned by the Cathiard family since 1990, the property extends over 78 hectares of vines and belongs to the prestigious circle of Graves Grands Crus Classés. The estate distinguishes itself through its unique Bio Précision approach, combining organic and biodynamic farming to craft wines of great renown.

The vineyard
Located within the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the vineyard lies on a naturally drained hillock made up of Günzian gravels and semi-precious pebbles. This unique soil creates a mirror effect that promotes grape ripening and forces the roots to plunge deep into the ground. The vines, with an average age of 49 years, are cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming. The estate also preserves its genetic diversity through a nursery located within the protected ecosystem of the Île de Lalande.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte unveils an exclusive gift box, celebrating the memory of Daniel Cathiard, who passed away in early 2026. The three vintages (2015, 2020 and 2025) that make up this special edition are adorned with an elegant gold label.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2015 - 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.
With a deep, almost black colour, this vintage opens on a generous bouquet of crunchy black fruits (blackberry, blueberry, cherry) enhanced by notes of cedar, liquorice and violet. The palate is ample and silky, carried by smooth tannins and a beautiful ripeness of the fruit, with a long and elegant finish marked by floral and mineral accents. A great Pessac-Léognan, combining power and finesse, true to the finest assets of the 2015 vintage.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2020 - 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
With a dark red colour featuring bluish reflections, this vintage expresses itself on an expressive nose blending red and black fruits, liquorice and subtle empyreumatic notes of pencil lead. The palate is powerful and enveloping, supported by firm tannins and a lovely smoothness, with a lingering finish revealing accents of sweet spices, light tobacco and graphite.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2025 - 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
With a dark red colour of beautiful depth, the nose is immediately seductive with fresh fruit dominated by blackcurrant, enhanced by floral notes of rose, sweet spices, sandalwood and an elegant minerality of graphite and warm earth. The palate is both dense and caressing, combining a silky texture with a full and harmonious substance, leading to an energetic finish of remarkable length. An accomplished 2025 vintage, blending freshness, aromatic complexity and great fullness.
