    Vinum

A textbook Sociando-Mallet bouquet: lots of blackcurrant, cool and mineral in character, with floral notes; on the palate it is tightly knit, showing the opulence of a warm vintage, yet the finest tannins and wonderful acidity rein the wine in; it becomes more slender through the mid-palate and lingers for a very long time. A great Sociando, which will age superbly.

    Decanter

A smoky, cool and crisp nose. Ripe on the palate, softly chewy with fleshy blackcurrant but also high acidity, liquorice and salty, flint accents on the finish. Quite tight and restrained, focused and all in one line. A little firm but well balanced just less immediately lively than some. A little one tight still. I imagine after ageing this will round out nicely.

Currants, blackberries, cedar, cigar wrappers, and spearmint notes pop in the nose. On the palate, the wine is dark, lifted, and almost creamy in the finish. Yields were quite low at 25 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2055. 92-94 Pts

Intense dark plum, medium to high acidity, earthy notes and ripe bramble fruits—love this, with beautiful aromatic depth. Definitely one that needs time to age to soften and broaden, because there are plenty of elements here, with breadth and power, but it tightens up on the finish.

Deep, intense dark colour. Very aromatic nose with ripe fruit, underpinned by a hint of resin. Fleshy on the attack, meticulously built through the mid-palate, highly aromatic, with a juicy, supple flow; the wine melts across the palate—steady, deep—both structured and charming. Superb! Blend: 66% Merlot - 31% Cabernet Sauvignon - 3% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 14%. Yield: 25 hl/ha.

    Description

The finesse and expression of a Haut-Médoc wine

    The estate

Overlooking the Gironde estuary for nearly three centuries, Château Sociando-Mallet stands among the most emblematic estates of the Haut-Médoc. Once owned by Sieur Sociando in the 17th century, the estate took its current name in the 19th century with the arrival of the Mallet family. Since 1969, the Gautreau family has infused it with passion and dynamism, perpetuating the aura of this great name on the left bank of Bordeaux.

    The vineyard

Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 comes from a 72-hectare vineyard in production in the Haut-Médoc. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are planted on a terroir of gravel and clay over a clay-limestone subsoil. This geological combination gives the wines their distinctive character and ageing potential.

    Vinification and ageing

Manual harvest into crates with a double sorting, before and after destemming. Traditional vinification, with pump-overs and rack-and-return, took place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. After a 30 to 35-day maceration, malolactic fermentation was carried out in vats. Ageing continued for 12 months, with 50% in new barrels. Alcohol content: 14% vol.

    Blend

Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 is a blend of Merlot (66%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31%) and Cabernet Franc (3%).
