Description
The finesse and expression of a Haut-Médoc wine
The estate
Overlooking the Gironde estuary for nearly three centuries, Château Sociando-Mallet stands among the most emblematic estates of the Haut-Médoc. Once owned by Sieur Sociando in the 17th century, the estate took its current name in the 19th century with the arrival of the Mallet family. Since 1969, the Gautreau family has infused it with passion and dynamism, perpetuating the aura of this great name on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 comes from a 72-hectare vineyard in production in the Haut-Médoc. The vines, averaging 35 years of age, are planted on a terroir of gravel and clay over a clay-limestone subsoil. This geological combination gives the wines their distinctive character and ageing potential.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvest into crates with a double sorting, before and after destemming. Traditional vinification, with pump-overs and rack-and-return, took place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. After a 30 to 35-day maceration, malolactic fermentation was carried out in vats. Ageing continued for 12 months, with 50% in new barrels. Alcohol content: 14% vol.
Blend
Château Sociando-Mallet 2025 is a blend of Merlot (66%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31%) and Cabernet Franc (3%).
